Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress in September 2007 in Hong Kong is shaping up to become what will be
one of the largest dedicated civil aerospace events in the world. China’s national aerospace industry corporation has joined a growing number of the world’s leading
aerospace companies and major national aerospace industry associations that have now confirmed participation.
China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I) encompasses 47 large and medium-sized manufacturing facilities, 31 research and development
institutes, 22 affiliated specialised companies and institutions, with a total employment of almost quarter of a million staff.
The Chinese state-owned enterprise joins a rapidly expanding number of companies, including the major global airframe and engine
manufacturers such as Boeing, United Technologies and Bombardier, which have already confirmed their continued participation for Asian
Aerospace. Two other major airframe manufacturers, Airbus and Embraer, have also expressed their intent to exhibit at Asian Aerospace 2007.
Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2007 will be held from September 3-6, 2007 at the
new AsiaWorld-Expo complex, which is adjacent to and integrated with the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The event will have a dedicated business to
business (B2B) focus covering the entire commercial aerospace sector for the high-growth Asia Pacific region.
A high-level Congress will form a key component of the event, bringing together major players from across aerospace and aviation to discuss
the exciting opportunities the region’s fast-growing market will deliver.
The congress will be organised in partnership with Flight,
an established brand in aviation media, which provides global intelligence and resources to everyone involved in or with a passion for aviation. Flight’s leading portfolio includes magazines Flight
International and Airline Business, as well as the Air Transport Intelligence service and ACAS fleet database.
The organisers of the world’s premier aircraft interiors show, Aircraft Interiors Expo Asia, will place their event alongside Asian Aerospace in
2007 in a joint initiative with Reed Exhibitions.
Another key component of Asian Aerospace 2007 is Civil Aircraft Engineering Expo, organised by Reed Exhibitions Aerospace & Defence
Group. It will offer a broad showcase of the aerospace industry supply chain sector.
Another associated event, Composites Asia will showcase raw materials, production and manufacturing technology for composites materials.
Altogether, visitors to Asian Aerospace can expect to see in excess of 40,000 gross square metres of commercial aviation products and services
at AsiaWorld-Expo, excluding a static display area for commercial aircraft, which will be located within the Hong Kong International Airport.
Paul Beh, President, Asia Pacific for Reed Exhibitions
said, “Asian Aerospace International Expo & Congress is shaping up to be the single
most important dedicated all-encompassing commercial aerospace exhibition and congress on the international aerospace industry calendar.
The support which we have received, and continue to receive, from such a broad spectrum of individuals and companies representing this
strategic sector is a strong validation of the direction which our flagship aerospace industry event is taking.”
Major support for Asian Aerospace has also been pledged by an array of public and private sector organisations in Hong Kong and China,
including Invest Hong Kong, Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC), Commission
of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND), Airport Authority of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the
Aerospace Forum, and Cathay Pacific Airways.
Robert Laird, Boeing’s Vice President Sales China,
said, “We have naturally had a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region over many years,
which has included regular attendance at Asian Aerospace. We are pleased to continue this partnership with Reed Exhibitions to present our
product portfolio in a new exhibition environment; which will cater to the changing market created by dramatic growth in North Asia, which is
outpacing the already impressive expansion of markets in the broad Asia Pacific region.”
Clive Richardson, Senior Vice President Reed Exhibitions Aerospace & Defence Group Asia,
said, “The potential of the Chinese market for more and newer commercial aircraft including business jets, as well as aerospace related products and services such as logistics and supply chain
management services, airport equipment and facilities, ground services, inflight services and entertainment, aircraft interiors, aircraft
maintenance/repair and overhaul (MRO), is remarkable. The sheer population size necessitates major procurement for the foreseeable future.
Hong Kong is not only the perfect gateway to the Chinese market, it is a highly-connected aviation hub with direct access to other large
emerging markets like India, Thailand and the Middle East.”
