Abacus-connected travel agents in Cambodia
are now able to issue e-tickets on airlines that are ready to operate e-ticketing in the country.
“Abacus-connected agents can now pass on the convenience of paperless travel to their Cambodian customers, and airlines can be assured of
increased savings and security,” said Ms Lim Lenich, General Manager of Abacus Distribution Systems (Cambodia) Pte Ltd. “After Abacus’
appointment in mid-May as an IATA-approved Billing Settlement Plan (BSP) agent for airlines operating in Cambodia, we moved quickly to bring this
value-added service to our agents and their travellers.”
Bangkok Airways was the first airline in the country to adopt the new e-ticketing service provided by Abacus with other airlines operating in
Cambodia quickly following suit.
“Abacus is heartened by the overwhelming support given by the airlines thus far. We have had several international airlines such as Eva Air, Cathay
Pacific, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Japan Airlines, Northwest Airlines and United Airlines making the switch to offer e-tickets. Abacus
expects more airlines operating in Cambodia to switch to electronic ticketing soon,” said Ms
Lenich.
Travellers benefit from the enhanced security of e-tickets as it allows them the option to print their own tickets, saving time and removing the need
for them to collect tickets from their travel agent. The benefits of e-ticketing to travel agents on the other hand, range from greater flexibility in
bookings and ticket changes, through to increased service to customers and more effective management of customers’ itineraries.
“To further show our commitment, Abacus Cambodia has had on-site visits to travel agency locations to build awareness, offer functional support
and promote the overall convenience of e-ticketing,” Ms Lim added.
