Abacus International today launched Abacus ASSET Car, the latest addition to its popular electronic learning software, Abacus ASSET (Agent Self-paced SystEms
Training). Abacus ASSET Car brings e-learning to a new and engaging level by structuring the learning experience in the form of a game.
Mr Brett Henry, Vice President, Centres of Excellence of Abacus International,
said, “Learning need not be tedious or boring. At Abacus, we have found that by using
interactive games to enhance the learning experience of our systems, we can more easily capture the attention of our travel agents and engage them more in the
learning process. Through advanced learning methods such as Abacus ASSET, the travel agent will see the returns in the increased proficiency of staff, directly
translating into increased revenue opportunities for the agency.”
With Abacus ASSET Car, travel consultants take on the role of a rookie agent who has to assist the relic hunter in her search for the ancient treasures of the universe by
making car reservations at different cities throughout the world. Through the games, agents learn the four basic steps of car reservations – SHOP, LOOK, CHECK and
BOOK. Games like “Wheel of Car Codes”, for example, allows the travel agent to learn useful information such as the commonly-used car codes and the 4-letter car type.
“With Abacus ASSET I was able to grasp the topics and information without difficulty as all the sections in ASSET are clear and easy to understand. ASSET allowed me
to learn and revise at my own time and pace and thus I can now remember information more succinctly and make use of my newfound knowledge at work,” said Ms
Serene Lim, Travel Consultant from American Express.
As with other components in the Abacus blended training programme, Abacus ASSET enables travel partners to save time and money by providing them with an
enhanced learning experience tailored to their convenience and pace.
Abacus ASSET has been used as part of the blended training programme since 2004, with over 700 travel agents in Malaysia, Singapore, India, Philippines, Brunei,
Pakistan and China trained to date.
