The
Caravelle Hotel
in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has been called out by The Robb Report, a prestigious American magazine, as one of
the top 100 luxury hotels in the world, the only hotel thus recognized in Vietnam.
The publication of Robb Report Luxury Hotels culminates a yearlong effort by The Robb Report’s editorial staff members, who identified
the best properties in each of nearly 100 cities worldwide. Spanning 42 countries on six continents, the collection of exclusive properties
showcased in Robb Report Luxury Hotels ranges from historic grand dames in Europe to contemporary boutiques in Asia. But each
hotel, according to Editor Bruce Wallin, shares at least one common trait: the ability to convey the absolute best of its respective city. In
addition to exceptional locations, these hotels have staffs that are not only highly focused on guest service, but are also thoroughly
knowledgeable about everything that makes their city great.
The Caravelle's General Manager Guido A. J. Gyde
said, “We are very pleased with the recognition of this highly regarded publication. The
Robb Report Luxury Hotels has a lot of discerning followers whom we are looking forward to welcoming.”
The Caravelle stands at 19 Lam Son Square, across from the Municipal Theater, in the legendary heart of
the city. The hotel opened in 1959, boasting a suite of amenities never before seen in Saigon, including bulletproof glass, a Berliet
generator and Trane air conditioners (a first for any hotel in the city). In 1998, after more than two decades of operation on a shoestring
budget, the aging landmark was resuscitated with a complete renovation and a complementary, 24-storey tower. With 38.5 sqm room size
and panorama views of Saigon River and Ho Chi Minh City, five restaurants and bars – among them the city’s
infamous roof top bar, Saigon Saigon Bar, renowned for its personalized service, Caravelle Hotel has received many prestigious local and
international awards.
