China Southern Airlines launches Companion Fares Promotion in Australia

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 5 December 2006

China Southern Airlines is offering special discounts on “companion fares” from Australia to China, travelling in Premium Business Class.

For every Premium Business return fare, which presently retails for A$2,900 plus taxes, China Southern is offering over 30% off the price of a second fare for a companion from Sydney or Melbourne to Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton).

Tax is additional, and varies according to travel dates and visitor’s destinations. Currently, the applicable tax for a return trip to Guangzhou is approximately A$265.

The airline is also offering add-on fares within China, with First and Business Class specials available on 32 routes from Guangzhou, and Economy Class deals to almost 70 destinations.

China Southern Airlines presently offers daily flights from Sydney to Guangzhou, three of these originating in Melbourne. Flights from Australia are operated with new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, seating 264 passengers in a dual-class cabin – 24 in Premium Business Class and 240 in Economy Class.

Premium Business Class features 24 Minipod flat bed seats, each 1.9 metres long. Each is encased in a special “privacy shell”, and equipped with a personal 10.4 inch LCD video screen and an individual directional LED reading light with full intermediate dimming. There is a generous 58 inches of legroom between each row of Minipods.

The summer companion Premium Business Class fare offer from Australia, and add-on fares within China, are available for sale until 31 December, for travel from now until 31 March, 2007.
