In April 2006, Singapore welcomed 815,000 visitors, registering a
16% growth over the same period a year ago. Visitor days were estimated to
reach 2.6 million, an increase of 12.6% in comparison to April 2005. This is the first time that visitor arrivals for the month of April have exceeded
800,000.
Indonesia
147,000, P.R. China 97,000, Australia 63,000, India 53,000 and Malaysia
51,000 were Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in April 2006. These markets accounted for 51% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
In April 2006, Singapore gazetted hotels recorded
Sin$119 million in room revenue, an increase of 25.7% over April 2005.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in April 2006 was estimated at
Sin$162, an increase of 20.6% over April 2005. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for
hotels was estimated to have reached 84% in April 2006, a 2 percentage point increase over April 2005.
