The first ski hotel in Dubai is due to open on 7 April 2006. The new Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is attached not only to the recently opened
Ski Dubai indoor ski resort, but also to one of the largest shopping malls outside of North America.
The five star Swiss chalet-style hotel has 393 rooms and 15 ski chalets with views over the slopes. Non-skiers can soak up the Alpine atmosphere
in one of the fully licensed restaurants overlooking the ski runs. In addition to skiing and shopping, from the end of May, guests
will also be able to enjoy a wellness spa, including an Ayurvedic Centre, beauty treatment rooms, fitness centre, infinity swimming pool with sun deck and tennis court.
“The Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is a great place for a family holiday as it offers such a wide range of innovative activities - you can ski in
the morning, sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon and have a thrill robocoaster ride in the evening.” said Michael Henssler, General Manager of
Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
Ski Dubai is approximately 25 stories high and 80 metres wide and covered with real snow all year round. There are five different slopes of varying
degrees of difficulty with a tow and chair lift. There is also a snowboard stunt park, a ¼ pipe snowboard area and a 3,000 square metre snow park
with a snow cavern. Use of equipment and clothing is included in the ticket price, which starts from £15.50 for a child and £18.00 for an adult for two
hour's skiing.
The Mall of the Emirates has 426 shops including Harvey Nicholls and Debenhams, as well as an Arabian souk area and a luxury shopping street
that includes Armani, Bvlgari, Gucci and Versace. Entertainment facilities include a 14 screen cinema, Magic Planet – a large indoor family
entertainment centre with rides, simulators and children's rides - and a wide range of restaurants and food outlets.
Located inside the mall right in between the Kempinski hotel and Ski Dubai is one of the regions most impressive food and entertainment venues,
Sezzam Dining. The 935 seat restaurant presents three distinct interactive open kitchens. Diners can choose between Steam, serving authentic
Asian cuisine; Bake, which specialises in oven-baked dishes prepared in wood-fired ovens; and Flame, featuring a large charcoal grill, rotisserie
and spit roast.
