Hong Kong Express Airways
has received the necessary approval from the Economic Development and Labour Bureau (EDLB) to operate
additional scheduled services to five more cities in China – Chengdu, Nanning, Wuhan, Jinan and
Yantai.
The Hong Kong-based airline already holds the rights to fly to six cities in Mainland China including those five to which it has launched services
over the last year since its inauguration: Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing and most recently Chongqing.
Commenting on the news, Hong Kong Express Airways CEO Andrew Tse said, “I’m glad to see we are being recognised for the concerted effort we
have made in this last year to strengthen links between Hong Kong and the Mainland. These new destinations certainly contribute towards our
goal in terms of expansion into the Mainland market which will ultimately see us operate on routes into top tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai
in the not too distant future.”
Hong Kong Express Airways currently offers scheduled services connecting Hong Kong and Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing and Chongqing in
Mainland China, and Chiang Mai in Thailand. The airline also operates scheduled daily charter flights to Taichung in Taiwan in conjunction with
Mandarin Airlines, and Laoag in the Philippines.
