Travel agents from around the region have had the opportunity to preview the new attractions opening this summer in Hong Kong Disneyland at
presentations co-hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Hong Kong Disneyland.
The roadshow began in Taipei on June 8 before moving on to Kaohsiung the next day. Agents in Singapore had a taste of the magic next on June
22 before moving on to Kuala Lumpur on June 23. Next up will be Manila on July 5 before a final stop in Bangkok on July 7.
Hong Kong Tourist Board Regional Director of South and South-east Asia, David Leung,
said, “We are working very closely with Hong Kong Disneyland to boost arrivals from Southeast Asia to Hong Kong. The roadshows and presentations are just one example of our close co-operation.
“As the family market is one segment we are very actively promoting, we are pleased to be working with Hong Kong Disneyland to attract this
important segment.”
With three new attractions opening in Tomorrowland later this summer and a host of activities specially designed to help guests stay cool as they
play in the sun, the travel industry had plenty to talk about as they met and mingled with Hong Kong Disneyland cast members and listened to a
presentation by Hong Kong Disneyland, vice president sales and travel trade marketing, Josh
D’Amaro.
Tomorrowland is one of the three themed lands at Hong Kong Disneyland and pays homage to what many dreamed the future would be – a
neighborhood of sky-piercing beacons and glistening metal illuminated by a celestial spectrum of neon colors; of flying saucers circling among
spinning planets and a base for Space Rangers to fight the evils of the galactic empire.
The three new attractions include Autopia, where guests can drive around an alien landscape aboard electric cars that cruise along the highways of
tomorrow; Stitch Encounter where the mischievous alien Stitch takes guests on an out-of-this-world encounter; and UFO Zone where guests can
get close and personal with some UFOs (Unbelievably Fun Objects) in the interactive aquatic-inspired play area designed for guests of all ages.
Josh
said, “It was a great opportunity for me and the Hong Kong Disneyland cast members to meet with the travel agents and update them on the
exciting new products that we have at the Park.
“The travel agents are a vital component of Hong Kong Disneyland’s distribution strategy and it is always a pleasure for us to see how enthusiastic
they are to promote the Park to their customers.”
The ever-popular Mickey Mouse traveled to all the cities just to meet with the agents, who were invited on stage to take
photos with the beloved Disney character.
