In March 2006, Singapore welcomed 819,000 visitors, registering an 11.7% growth over the same period a year ago. Visitor days were estimated to
reach 2.6 million, an increase of 6.5% in comparison to March 2005. This is the first time that visitor arrivals for the month of March have exceeded
800,000.
Indonesia (141,000), P.R. China (91,000), Japan (62,000),
the UK (55,000) and Australia (54,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in
March 2006. These markets accounted for 49% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
In March 2006, Singapore gazetted hotels recorded
Sin$127 million in room revenue, an increase of 31% over March 2005.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in March 2006 was estimated at
Sin$159, an increase of 21.3% over March 2005. The Average Occupancy Rate
(AOR) for hotels was estimated to have reached 88% in March 2006, a 4 percentage point increase over March 2005.
