Blue Canyon Country Club, Phuket, will temporarily close its Lakes Course from 3 April 2006 for renovations and upgrading.
The course is scheduled to reopen to the public in November/December 2006.
The Lakes Course first opened in 1999 and has earned a reputation for having one of the best finishing holes in this part of Asia. The closure will allow for the upgrading
of the course to further the aim of Blue Canyon to challenge the ranks of world-class golf courses and offer a more challenging experience for golf enthusiasts and
professionals.
“I am truly thrilled and honoured that they have decided to upgrade the Lakes Course in order to enhance my initial creation,” said Yoshikazu Kato. “It’s a testament to
Blue Canyon Country Club’s commitment in making the course a must play for all golfers in the region.”
This development follows closely on their recent announcement of a strategic partnership with RREEF Global Opportunities Fund II LLC, a real estate investment fund
managed by DB Real Estate which involves an investment of THB2 billion (approximately
US$48.8 million) by partners into Blue Canyon to further develop the entire
property and enhance its brand name. Legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha, Chairman of General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM), Kerry Hill Architects and Jaya Ibrahim &
Associates have also been engaged to lend their expertise to ensure an elegant transformation of the renowned golf property.
“This is only the first part of our overall master plan to position Blue Canyon Country Club in the forefront amongst all the integrated golf and country club resorts in
Asia,” commented Mr. Sia Leng Yuen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Canyon Country Club. “Ultimately we want to create a truly unforgettable lifestyle
and leisure experience for our customers and residents alike that would be difficult to rival in this part of the world”.
