In a burst of footsteps, fitness enthusiasts, charity supporters and members of the public will be returning to Banyan Tree Bangkok on Sunday, 10
September 2006 for the 8th Vertical Marathon. The long-running challenge is an annual affair eagerly anticipated by its fans.
The finishing point is at the hotel's former helicopter pad, now converted to award-winning Vertigo restaurant on the 61st floor, one of the highest al
fresco hotel restaurants in Asia.
A registration fee of 350
Baht (roughly US$9) per person includes an official t-shirt and a meal voucher. Winners stand to receive trophies from HRH
Princess Soamsawali, luxurious accommodation and gift vouchers. Registration begins

from 1 August 2006.
Vertical Marathon Package
For this special occasion,
the Banyan Tree Bangkok has introduced a Vertical Marathon package that is
priced from US$175++ per night in a Deluxe View Suite. The offer is valid from 8 to 12 September 2006.
Highlights include a sumptuous daily buffet breakfast, participation at the Vertical Marathon, souvenirs, and an exclusive 20%
saving on any ala carte massage sessions at Banyan Tree Spa, as well as on dining at Bai Yun, Saffron, Taihei, Pier59 and Rom Sai restaurants.
An Elevated Course
Running up 1,093 steps is a fun and exciting challenge for participants of all ages. To date, the fastest time achieved is 6 minutes and 29 seconds by
Thai national, Khun Boonchoo Jandacha.
Previous participants include the Chairman of Caring Hearts for Aids Foundation, Khun Saisom Wongsasukul; and pop culture super stars, Mr.
Tannaton Palkawong Na Ayudhya, Ms. Satita Ketanon, and Mr. Somchai
Kaemkat.
In Aid of AIDS
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the "HIV Formula Feeding Fund", a Thai Red Cross initiative under the patronage of Her Royal Highness
Princess Soamsawali. Last year, the event raised a total of 401,890 Baht
(roughly US$10,576) for the HIV Formula Feeding Fund, a charity that Banyan Tree
Bangkok has been supporting for over four years. The Fund aids vulnerable HIV patients, especially children, who require extra care and support.
