SriLankan Airlines has joined with Tempo Holidays in its new programme to Sri Lanka and India, offering flights from key Asian destinations to
Colombo, and onward services throughout Sri Lanka and to neighbouring India.
Tempo’s programme includes a range of special “Taste of…” short-break packages – “Taste of Colombo”, “Taste of Mumbai”, “Taste of Delhi”,
“Taste of Kolkata” and “Taste of Chennai” – all destinations served by
SriLankan.
Each of these packages includes two nights accommodation in a selection of properties, plus transfers and a range of tours with private guides.
SriLankan Airlines flies daily from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok to Colombo, using a mix of Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft. The airline
also operates almost 100 flights per week from Colombo to 10 destinations in India – more than any other international carrier.
“Sri Lanka and India continue to capture the imagination of travellers from Australia,” said Ian Robinson, General Manager Australia for SriLankan
Airlines.
“Bookings to both destinations continue to increase from Australia, as awareness grows of their spectacular attractions, from wildlife parks and
ancient fortresses to the many cultural and culinary experiences.
“This trend is supported by the recent decision of Tempo Holidays to introduce a programme to India and Sri Lanka, in which we are a participating
carrier.”
As well as services to Colombo and on to India, SriLankan Airlines continues to improve access within Sri Lanka by expanding its unique Air Taxi
service, in which floatplanes are used to fly from Colombo to regional centres, in some cases landing on lakes or waterways.
Air Taxi flights to the Hill Country take just 35 minutes, while services to Sri Lanka’s east coast take up to 70 minutes. By comparison, road tripsthrough Sri Lanka’s hilly terrain can take up to seven hours.
