Asian Aerospace 2006 closes with record US$15.2 billion of deals

Travel News Asia 27 February 2006

Asian Aerospace closed its doors to trade visitors last Friday with record deals in excess of US$15 billion recorded. The amount is four and a half times the amount recorded during the last event in 2004, and the biggest order book in the show’s 25 year history.

The cumulative order book, mainly in the commercial sector, included an array of around 40 aerospace deals; ranging from major fixed and rotary wing aircraft and engine purchases, sales of aircraft simulators, and avionics packages to Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), aerospace supply chain management, and consultancy contracts, among others.

Mr Ed Ng, President of Asian Aerospace 2006, said, “We are delighted at the levels of business announced at Asian Aerospace and the total of $15.2 billion is way beyond our optimistic expectations.”

The figures were also impressive on the exhibitor and visitor count, with 940 exhibitors from 43 countries, and 153 delegations from 44 countries. The event also saw over 34,300 trade participants from 89 countries, including first time major participation by visitors from China.

Mr Ng added, “Asian Aerospace 2006 is truly a world class event. We are very happy with the results. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Singapore government, all exhibitors, visitors, and customers, along with the Asian Aerospace team, for their tremendous support in making this event an historic success.”

2007

Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress will take place between 3-6 September, 2007 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
