Finnair flies Moomins to Japan

Travel News Asia Friday, 2 June 2006

The legendary fairytale figures - the Moomins, will be flying between Finland and Japan during the summer months. Two Finnair Boeing MD-11 aircraft depict the loveable figures on their sides. In addition to the Nordic countries, the Moomin trolls are very popular in Japan.

The characters, created by Finnish author Tove Jansson, can also be seen on the interior of the aircraft.

“The Moomins are a part of our marketing strategy for Japan. In Finland, the figures are known and loved by all, and the Moomin boom is no less apparent in Japan than it is in Finland,” said Finnair SVP Commercial Division Mika Perho.

The Moomin aircraft will operate mainly on routes between Japan and Finland until August.
