Air Canada
has welcomed the successful conclusion of an Open Skies Agreement for Canada and the United Kingdom. The agreement was
reached in Ottawa, following discussions involving officials from the Canadian and U.K. Governments as well as representatives of Canadian and
U.K. airlines.
"We are pleased negotiations involving Canada and the United Kingdom on this important aviation agreement have resulted in a successful
conclusion," said Duncan Dee, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Administrative Officer, ACE Aviation Holdings. "This new agreement opens up
a realm of new opportunities that will benefit air travellers. Most notably, it will allow us to continue expanding Air Canada's simplified fare products
for customers between Canada and the United Kingdom, our largest international market."
In addition to allowing Air Canada to introduce more flexible simplified pricing, this new agreement will enable the carrier to expand its popular
multi-trip flight passes to this important international market.
London Heathrow is Air Canada's largest international gateway, serving customers with over 100 non-stop flights per week from cities across
Canada.
