Qatar Airways, one of the founders of the Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) charity drive, has signed a Gold sponsorship agreement with organisers of
next month’s Gala Dinner in Doha, ensuring many of the invited celebrities and diginitaries fly with Qatar’s national airline.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker signed the agreement with Rashid Al-Naimi, Vice-President of Administration, Qatar
Foundation, and Board Member of ROTA.
The sponsorship package provides Qatar Airways with the opportunity to present its high level credentials at the November 4 charity dinner
being held at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Tickets for the star-studded event, drawing names from across the entertainment, social, sporting and political world, are selling fast and
organisers expect a huge turnout for what promises to be one of the most talked-about social events on Qatar’s calendar this year.
Further details of this year’s dinner, which will be preceded by a red-carpet arrivals ceremony under the full glare of the international media,
is expected to be unveiled over the next few days.
Qatar Airways joined forces with Qatar Foundation and the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOC) in 2005 to launch the Reach Out
To Asia initiative. ROTA aims to raise funds and support the needs of the underprivileged and disadvantaged across the Asian continent,
including the Middle East.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said he was delighted, on behalf of the airline, to extend support to Reach Out To Asia.
“The organisers behind Reach Out To Asia have worked extremely hard to make this charity drive a huge success,” he said.
“Millions of dollars have been raised for special projects across Asia in the short few months since Reach Out To Asia was formed.
“Qatar Airways is delighted to have supported many of these projects indirectly and we are pleased to once again be sponsoring what promises
to be a fabulous and memorable night on November 4 when proceeds from the Gala Dinner and auction will go towards worthy causes.”
The Reach Out To Asia Gala Dinner is being held under the auspices of The Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa
Al Thani. Reach Out To Asia, a non-government organisation based in Qatar, is chaired by his sister, Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa bint
Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Last year’s inaugural gala dinner raised US$10million for charitable causes and organisers are hoping to surpass this figure on November 4.
With just weeks to go before Qatar stages the 15th Asian Games in Doha, this year’s Reach Out To Asia charity dinner will further help turn the
global spotlight on Qatar.
