Dragonair flew a record number of passengers and carried a record amount of freight
in 2005.
The number of passengers in 2005 was 5,029,285, the first time Dragonair has flown more than five million travellers in one year, and an increase of 9.9% over 2004.
“It was gratifying to set such a record in our 20th anniversary year,” said CEO Stanley
Hui.
Cargo volumes in 2005 climbed 12.5% over 2004 to top 385,000
tonnes.
“The results are good considering the difficult operating environment we endured, with record prices for oil and greater competition,” Mr. Hui said.
“Traffic for both passengers and cargo continued to be underpinned by demand to and from the China Mainland.
“Capping a good year overall, December saw both passenger and cargo figures rise when compared with the previous year.”
December passenger numbers rose 6.8% year-on-year to 421,266, while cargo volumes climbed 8.1% to 36,805
tonnes.
