Etihad Airways
is to launch daily services between Abu Dhabi and Manchester on 26 March 2006.
Manchester,
one of the largest economic regions outside London, will be Etihad Airways’ third UK
destination after Etihad’s current services to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
“Demand for air travel between the north of England and the UAE is growing every year, and Etihad Airways is delighted to be commencing this
frequent quality service between Abu Dhabi and Manchester. Business and leisure travellers will be able to travel between two of the fastest growing
global hubs, whilst enjoying Etihad’s superior levels of hospitality and comfort,” said Geert Boven, VP Commercial, Etihad Airways.
The new Etihad route will serve many of the 650,000 Britons who visit the UAE each year, in addition to the estimated 95,000 British citizens living in
the UAE.
Manchester is one of the UK’s busiest airports, handling over 22 million passengers a year, and providing access to many of the north-west’s major
areas of interest including Blackpool, Chester and the Lake District, along with other cities such as Liverpool.
