British Airways extends online check-in for Families and Groups

Travel News Asia Thursday, 13 July 2006

British Airways is aiming to take the stress out of family travel this summer as it extends its new online check-in facility to children and infants from 25 July.

From the comfort of their own home, mum or dad can simply log on to ba.com from 24 hours in advance of their flight, choose their seats and check in the whole family. The system is easy to use with simple step-by-step instructions and is available on more than 97% of British Airways routes.

The final stage is simply to print off the boarding passes ready to take to the airport the following day.

Families can travel to the airport knowing that they are already checked in and without that nagging anxiety that a problem on the journey or a nightmare check-in queue could cause them to miss that holiday flight. On arrival at the airport, the family can hand over their luggage at the 'Fast Bag Drop' desk and go straight through security to the boarding gate.

Special child meals can be also booked up to 24 hours before the flight departs.

Groups of up to six will also be able to check in online in one transaction from July 25.

Jayne O'Brien, head of brands and marketing communications, said, "Everyone looks forward to their summer holidays but we recognize that the airport experience can be quite stressful for families and groups.

"We want them to start their journey the way they mean to go on - by being as relaxed as possible. So we have extended the reach of our very popular on-line check-in facilities to allow families and groups to speed through the airport and arrive on board ready to enjoy their flight with us."
