Mr. Philippe Periou
has been appointed as general manager of the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti, which boasts
some of the island’s largest resort rooms and is set amidst a tropical garden landscape on the exotic black sands of Lafayette
Beach.
Mr. Periou will be responsible for overseeing all operational, sales and marketing activities of the resort and brings to the role more than three
decades experience in the hospitality industry, including the past seven years spent with Carlson Companies’ Radisson Seven Seas luxury cruise
line.
Mr. Periou says that visitor numbers to Tahiti from the Asia Pacific region have been static in recent years and is looking forward to tackling this as
part of his new role. “Tahiti is an absolutely stunning destination – unlike many other Pacific Islands it has not been commercialized and remains in
its natural state. We have ambitious plans for the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti and I look forward to contributing to the development of inbound
tourism in Tahiti as a result of our efforts.”
At Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, Mr Periou held the position of Hotel Director on luxury cruise ships in the fleet including the Paul Gauguin, the
Seven Seas Mariner, and most recently the Seven Seas Voyager.
Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti encompasses an indulgent spa and health club retreat, le Spa, which has a traditional Polynesian theme,
includes waterfall showers, massages, romantic treatments for couples, a sauna, steam rooms and a yoga centre. The spa’s signature treatment combines
black sand and volcanic stones with indigenous fruit and flowers such as mango and frangipani.
Mr. Periou was born and educated in France and holds several qualifications from well recognized hospitality institutions, including the Institut de
Promotion Hotelière in Vannes, France. His previous hotel management experience includes the position of general manager at Inn on the Cliffs in
Kauai, Hawaii, which is managed by Westin Hotels & Resorts.
