Travel News Asia 1 March 2006

WORLDHOTELS has appointed Australian hospitality expert Ms Melissa Gan as its new Asia Pacific Membership Services Director, and also promoted Ms Janet Debski to the position of Director of Sales, Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Singapore, Melissa leads the Membership Services team with hotel groups Stamford Hotels & Resorts of Australasia and Thailand’s Amari group among her primary areas of focus.

Ms Gan is also implementing a new key account management system for WORLDHOTELS’ Asian hotels while reviewing and enhancing the consortium’s training scheme.

A seasoned professional with 18 years in the hospitality industry, Ms Gan began her career with Regent/Four Seasons in 1985 as the first recipient of their Cornell Hotel Management Scholarship. She subsequently worked for 12 years with Hilton in Australia in management of rooms, revenue and business development – rising to the post of executive assistant manager at the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide.

Most recently, prior to her appointment with WORLDHOTELS, Ms Gan was attached to one of South Australia's largest real estate companies, responsible for opening a new group of boutique-style hotels.

At the same time, Sydney-based Janet Debski has been promoted to Director of Sales, Australia and New Zealand, focusing on the development of consortia partners and corporate accounts as well as MICE and group business. She has been with WORLDHOTELS for over a decade and was formerly sales manager.
