Donations to Dragonair’s Change for Conservation inflight charity programme have surpassed HK$4 million, with the funds being used to benefit
projects by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in China’s Yunnan province.
“This is the most successful initiative of its kind the airline has ever organised,” said CEO Stanley Hui. “Our passengers have been amazingly
generous in their support, and continue to be so. I would also like to thank them and all our staff for making this such a success.
“The campaign is ongoing, and making a real difference in preserving a unique environment in the China Mainland for future generations.”
The funds are being used by TNC in northwest Yunnan to create a system of protected areas and to develop sustainable economic alternatives for
the people there.
Change for Conservation was launched on January 1, 2004 and ended that year with more than HK$2 million having been donated.
To support the campaign, Dragonair publishes information and updates for passengers and the wider public in its inflight magazine,
Silkroad, on-board videos, and its newsletter dragonews.
Change for Conservation is one of the major campaigns in Dragonair’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, which covers the areas of arts
and culture, education, medical and relief efforts, and the environment.
