InterContinental Hotels Group
is to add to its portfolio the first Holiday Inn Resort in Thailand’s Hua Hin/Cha-Am resort area along the western coast
of the Gulf of Thailand. The group has been appointed to manage the 560-room Holiday Inn Resort Regent Beach Cha-Am, currently trading as the
Regent Cha-Am Beach Resort & Spa.
The Hua
Hin/Cha-Am is popular for its long beaches, historical attractions and golf courses. The Holiday Inn Resort Regent Beach Cha-Am
is set amidst 40 acres of lush tropical beachfront landscape on Regent Beach. The 400-metre-long beachfront affords plenty of space for relaxation, swimming and
watersports.
Over the next two years the hotel will continue refurbishment of guestrooms and suites. Plans are also underway to upgrade public areas, meeting
facilities, restaurants and bars. As with other Holiday Inn resorts, a signature kids’ club will be introduced. All enhancements will give the resort a
contemporary feel, whilst maintaining its relaxing ambience and charm.
Though primarily a destination for families and holidaymakers, the resort is also well equipped to accommodate
meetings and conventions. The scale of the resort’s meeting facilities means it attracts both local and international business conventions, as well as
off-site meetings from Bangkok, a two-and-a-half-hour drive away.
Khun Piyaman Tejapaibul, Managing Director of the Regent Cha-Am,
said,: “We are confident that InterContinental Hotels Group’s knowledge of the
industry in Thailand and track record as a global leader in hotels and resort management will ensure the success of Holiday Inn Resort Regent
Beach Cha-Am. This will in turn enable us to maximise the potential of this unique and promising property.”
Mr Jan Smits, chief operating officer, Southern Asia, InterContinental Hotels Group Asia
Pacific added, “The Holiday Inn Resort Regent Beach Cha-Am is the first Holiday Inn Resort in this popular international and domestic resort destination and is our third Holiday Inn Resort in Thailand
following Phuket and Phi Phi Island. In fact IHG now operates five hotels and resorts with almost 2,000 rooms which supports our confidence and
commitment to the future of tourism in Thailand.”
