Galileo
has launched a new e-ticketing capability with Philippine Airlines
(PR).
Galileo-connected travel agents
are now able to offer their customers e-tickets on PR for selected service routes in
their network. This launch represents the latest in a long list of airlines in Asia that have chosen to implement e-ticketing on Galileo and
brings the Asian travel industry a step closer to achieving IATA’s goal for all airlines to offer e-tickets by the end of 2007. Since its
inception, e-ticketing has delivered clear benefits to airlines, travel agents and their customers in terms of the significant cost savings and
efficiency improvements.
Roberto Diaz de Rivera, Senior Assistant Vice President for Corporate e-Business of Philippine Airlines stated that the e-ticketing
capability provided by Galileo will allow the airline to further accelerate the distribution of its inventory to travel agencies.
“Additionally, PR
will benefit from faster ticket processing by its agents which will in turn will lead to greater convenience and more flexibility for our
passengers,” said Diaz de Rivera.
With this deal, Galileo now has close to 140 airlines offering e-ticketing in 87 countries, making it possible for Galileo-connected agents to
provide e-tickets to over 70% of all tickets processed through the GDS.
