Reed Exhibitions acquires Asia Pacifics Premier Air Freight Industry Event

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 12 December 2006

Reed Exhibitions has acquired the Asia Pacific regions leading air freight conference and exhibition, Air Freight Asia, which will be integrated with its flagship international aerospace industry event, Asian Aerospace.

The acquisition of Hong Kong-based Asian Media Services, the organiser of Air Freight Asia, also includes its regional monthly trade publication, Payload Asia, which covers the air cargo industry in Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

The next staging of the biennial Air Freight Asia Conference and Exhibition will take place alongside Asian Aerospace International Expo & Congress at AsiaWorld-Expo Hong Kong from September 3-6, 2007.

Mr Nol van Fenema, the organiser of Air Freight Asia and publisher/editor of Payload Asia will continue to be responsible for the management of the event and the publication, the latter joining the stable of publications produced by Reed Business Information Asia.

Mr van Fenema said, The air cargo industry in Asia and the Middle East will continue to enjoy significant growth in the next 10 to 15 years. In particular China, India and the leading countries in the Middle East will be at the forefront of unprecedented expansion in airline fleets, airport facilities, logistics, IT and infrastructure projects. The potential for Air Freight Asia and Payload Asia is enormous and with Reeds solid expertise in exhibitions and publishing, we will be able to further expand our role in the air cargo industry.

The Air Freight Asia event started as a trade conference in Singapore in 1986. Over the years, the event has evolved into the leading air cargo trade exhibition and conference, which in addition to Singapore, has been held in various cities in Asia in the past 20 years, including Hong Kong, Bangkok, Sapporo, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Shanghai.

The high-level Congress which will form a key component of Asian Aerospace will bring together major players from across aerospace and aviation to discuss the exciting opportunities the regions fast-growing market will deliver.

The aircraft interiors show, Aircraft Interiors Expo Asia, will be held alongside Asian Aerospace in 2007 in a joint initiative with Reed Exhibitions.

Another key component of Asian Aerospace 2007 is the Civil Aircraft Engineering Expo, organised by Reed Exhibitions Aerospace & Defence Group. It will offer a broad showcase of the aerospace industry supply chain sector.

Another associated event, Composites Asia will showcase raw materials, production and manufacturing technology for composites materials.

Altogether, visitors to Asian Aerospace can expect to see in excess of 40,000 gross square metres of commercial aviation products and services at AsiaWorld-Expo, excluding a static display area for commercial aircraft, which will be located within the Hong Kong International Airport.

Paul Beh, President, Asia Pacific for Reed Exhibitions said, Asian Aerospace International Expo & Congress is shaping up to be the single most important dedicated all-encompassing commercial aerospace exhibition and congress on the international aerospace industry calendar. The support which we have received, and continue to receive, from such a broad spectrum of individuals and companies representing this strategic sector is a strong validation of the direction which our flagship aerospace industry event is taking.
