In
what Korean Air calls a precautionary measure to ensure safe air travel,
the airline has banned passengers from carrying on board its aircraft any kind of Dell laptops
plus Apples iBook and Powerbook models.
In
August, Dell recalled 4.1 million lithium-ion batteries made by Sony,
and Apple followed suit, saying 1.8 million of its Sony-made Powerbook batteries may have been affected.
Passengers
can still take their laptops on board however they must first remove batteries from the unit before
taking them to the cabin. The laptops cannot be carried into the cabin if
the batteries are not removed.
