For the period
between July 1st 2006 to July 31st 2006, Hong Kong Express Airways saw a jump in passenger numbers of 25.6%
to 13,899 passengers in July from 11,062 in June. The number of flights operated also rose from 326 to 377 in part due to the twice weekly services
between Hong Kong and Chiang Mai launched at the end of June.
Hong Kong Express Airways CEO, Andrew Tse said, “The monthly passenger totals on the run up to our first anniversary in September have
proved to skeptics that not only are our services gaining recognition from a mounting number of travellers but that we are actively pursuing a stake
in the market for flights into and beyond Mainland China.”
The airline, which recently sold 45% of its shares to the mainland’s HNA Group, currently operates scheduled services connecting Hong Kong with
four cities in Mainland China - Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing and Chongqing, as well as Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.
