After a comprehensive tender application process, the State of Denmark and national procurement company (SKI) have selected Finnair
as their airline of choice for traffic between Copenhagen and Beijing. Finnair has also been chosen for official state-business traffic
between Copenhagen and Helsinki. The agreement covers the next two years.
The Nordic-based airline SAS, of which the Sate of Denmark is a joint owner, flies non-stop between Copenhagen and Beijing and several
times a day to Helsinki.
Finnair is very satisfied with the agreement. The choice shows that Finnair truly has the best connections between Scandinavia and
Asia, said Sari Fairchild, who heads Finnairs sales unit in Denmark.
In June this year, the Swedish State made a similar choice, as the result of a similar tender process, for Finnairs Asian routes.
In the coming years, Finnairs Asian traffic is set to continue growing at a rate of 20% annually. Finnair flies to Beijing, Shanghai,
Hong Kong and Guangzhou in China. Other Asian destinations are Bangkok (twice a day during the winter season), Singapore, Delhi and
the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. Kuala Lumpur will be added to the network in 2007.
