Dragonair has flown 1.5 tonnes of supplies to Yunnan province in the Mainland as part of ongoing flood relief efforts by the Hong Kong Red Cross.
The floods, the result of heavy rains since the end of May, have affected more than 90 million people, while the economic loss has been estimated at almost RMB50
billion.
The shipment, provided free of charge by Dragonair, comprised 116 cartons of new clothes and 240 blankets and was delivered to Kunming on Sunday.
“We hope our efforts for the Hong Kong Red Cross will help relieve some of the suffering of those affected,” said Dragonair CEO Stanley
Hui.
According to the Hong Kong Red Cross the worse-hit provinces are Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Chongqing and Inner Mongolia.
