Air Tahiti Nui launches fare promotion between Sydney and New York

Travel News Asia 8 June 2005

Air Tahiti Nui has launched a series of special air fares from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to New York City, priced from A$1299 per person, plus tax of approximately A$310.

The airline is also offering Business Class fares for just A$7999 plus tax from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to New York.

The new fares have been introduced by the airline to mark the start of its new one-stop flights from Sydney to New York, via Tahiti, beginning on 9 July.

“New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and we’re offering a unique new way to get there,” said Craig Lee, Regional Director Australia for Air Tahiti Nui.

“We will depart Sydney at 9.15am every Saturday and Monday, and arrive at Kennedy Airport, New York, at 3.15pm local time the same day,” said Mr Lee. “Our passengers can clear US Customs in New York, instead of having to do so in Los Angeles mid way through their journey. And they can stop in beautiful Tahiti on their way to or from the Big Apple.”

The A$1299 Economy Class fares are available for low season travel between 1 November and 9 December, and must be booked and paid for by 19 July, while the Business Class deals are available for departures between 9 July and 31 December, and can be booked and paid for up to 31 December.

Also available are shoulder season economy fares from A$1899 plus taxes and charges, for travel between 18 July and 31 October, and high season fares from A$2199 plus taxes and charges between 9 and 17 July.

The Air Tahiti Nui flights will take just 7½ hours to reach Papeete, Tahiti, then after a transit of just one hour will continue non-stop to New York – a journey time of 12 hours.

The airline will operate its Sydney-Tahiti-New York services with wide-bodied Airbus A340 aircraft, in which each passenger will have a personal video screen and a wide range of video, audio and games entertainment.
