Hong Kong Express Airways
has received approval of its licence application by the Air Transport Licensing Authority. Effective
immediately, the licence permits Hong Kong Express to seek designation and allocation of traffic rights from the Government to operate scheduled air services between
Hong Kong and secondary cities in Mainland China.
Commenting on this latest development, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Express, Andrew Tse said, “This latest development effectively confirms our status as
Hong Kong’s newest airline. With our licence now in place, we are well on track in our preparations ahead of taking delivery of our first aircraft in July.”
From its base at Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport, Hong Kong Express Airways
plans to operate multiple daily services between Hong Kong and secondary cities in Mainland China using the new EMBRAER 170 aircraft for which the carrier is the launch customer.
Hong Kong Express Airways will take delivery of its first aircraft in July 2005 and will add a further 3 aircraft to its fleet by April 2006.
