The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is organising a workshop March 15, 2005 at the Siam City Hotel in Bangkok to educate tourism operators and managers on
how to manage the extreme consequences of a disaster. The travel industry spends much time planning to avoid disasters, but when they do happen, what do you do?
This workshop, entitled "Managing the Unimaginable" aims to answer
this question.
Attendees will learn from PATA member Kenyon International, experts in the business of managing the unimaginable, on how to better handle the processes of
identifying victims, notifying families, facilitating family visits, planning memorials and involving the community in the burial of unidentified victims.
Kenyon are world leaders in disaster response and have been central to the behind-the-scenes tsunami recovery process underway in southern Thailand since
December 26.
The workshop is suitable for leaders and senior management of airlines, hotels, tour companies, national tourism offices and other tourism-related organisations. Senior
operations managers in non-travel-related companies may also benefit from attending.
The six-hour workshop costs 3,600 baht (PATA members 2,400 baht) and includes seminar, workshop, lunch and two coffee breaks.
