Malcolm Ewen McLauchlan
has been appointed as General Manager of the Meritus Mandarin Haikou, a 318-room deluxe hotel in the capital city of the Hainan
Province, China.
A New Zealander who is fluent in English and French, Mr McLauchlan is a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School. He started his career in food and beverage in South
Korea in 1975. Between early to late 1980s, he had assumed various supervisory and management appointments with international hotels in the Philippines, Macau,
Singapore, Morocco and Hong Kong.
Mr McLauchlan
held senior management positions with several international hotel establishments such as China Hotel in Guangzhou,
Imperial Century Hotel & Resort in Jakarta, and Stamford Plaza Auckland (formerly known as The Regent). Since 1997, after he left Stamford Plaza Auckland, till recently,
Mr McLauchlan operated his own food and beverage and restaurant ownership company.
