Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific has appointed Mr. Rummy Anand as Regional Director of Sales, where his core responsibility will be to drive revenue for all of Carlson’s
hotels across the Asia Pacific region.
Based in the Singapore offices of Carlson Hotels, Rummy, who brings more than 20 years experience to the role, will oversee the Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific sales
organization. Rummy said, “I believe that relationships are the key to business success and will continue to follow a collaborative philosophy, uniting the hotels,
regional sales staff and our key customers to drive revenue and identify new business opportunities for Carlson Hotels across the region.”
“In the hotel industry, we are very lucky in that we can see, hear and interact with our customers on a daily basis, to learn about their buying behaviours and
consumption patterns. Not every company is lucky enough to have this opportunity and I believe we should make the most of the chance to listen to our customers and
respond by giving them what they want.”
“There are a number of trends currently emerging in the market, such as the big increase in the number of female travellers, who typically seek a different set of
amenities and security considerations. We are also seeing major growth in the various domestic markets, giving hotels the opportunity to respond with domestic
packages and products,” added Rummy.
In the past two decades, Rummy has held various senior sales and marketing roles for a variety of international hotel brands including InterContinental, Holiday Inn and
Hyatt Regency. He has been a part of the Carlson family since 2003, having previously held the position of Regional Director, Sales and Marketing for Carlson Hotels in
India where he was responsible for overseeing all marketing and sales activity across the country.
Prior to joining Carlson, Rummy held the position of Regional Director, South West Asia, InterContinental Hotels Group, where he was responsible for overseeing all
sales, marketing and communications activities for India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan and managed a team of 20 people.
Paul Kirwin, president, Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific,
said, “The current hotel market is extremely buoyant and it is an exciting time for Rummy to come on board with
Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific. Particularly in China, we are seeing exponential growth with several new hotels due to open in the coming months and Rummy’s strong
background in the industry makes him a very valuable addition to the Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific team at this busy time.”
Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific aims to increase its portfolio by 50% over the next three years by aggressively increasing the number of hotels across all five of its
brands, with major growth driven by its three full service brands – Regent International Hotels, Radisson and Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
Carlson Hotels has agreements in place for 23 hotels, currently under development and due to open by the end of 2007, to add to its current portfolio of 45 hotels and
9,593 rooms across the Asia Pacific region.
