Emirates
has introduced a second daily non-stop service to Birmingham from Dubai, increasing both seat capacity and cargo on the
route.
The new flight
EK037 departs from Dubai at 13:45hrs arriving in Birmingham at 20:15hrs. Return flight EK038 will depart from Birmingham at
21:55hrs, arriving in Dubai at 07:45hrs the next morning.
Emirates already operates a daily service between Dubai and Birmingham, launched in December 2000. Flight EK039 departs each day at 07:50hrs, arriving Birmingham
at 12:20hrs.
On both flights the airline will use 278-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with 27 seats in Business class and 251 seats in Economy. The new flight also will increase cargo
capacity to Birmingham, giving customers of Emirates SkyCargo greater flexibility.
In the first four and a half years of operation, some 700,000 passengers have travelled on Emirates between Dubai and Birmingham, along with 23.4 million kilos of cargo.
Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline,
said, "The launch of Emirates' second daily flight to Birmingham is in direct response to increasing demand for our services. Our
Birmingham route has been an overwhelming success.
"Significant numbers of business travellers are flying with Emirates, which underlines how much the business community appreciates the benefits of our non-stop
service between Dubai and Birmingham."
Since the launch of this route, Emirates has continued to see month-on-month growth of Business class passengers travelling in both directions, who receive a host of
benefits including access to Emirates lounges and complimentary chauffeur drive to and from the airport - up to a distance of 65 driven miles.
Keith Longstaff, Emirates Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Europe
added, "We are delighted to offer our customers the convenience of an optional timing
from Dubai to Birmingham, which will make it easier for them to meet their travel needs whether they are flying Emirates on business or pleasure."
The launch of Emirates' second flight to Birmingham increases Emirates' daily departures from Dubai to the UK to 12. The others are four departures to London
Heathrow, three to London Gatwick, two to Manchester and a daily flight to Glasgow.
