Etihad
Airways is to launch an additional weekly flight between Abu Dhabi and Geneva and three
non-stop flights per week between Abu Dhabi and Munich.
H.E. Dr. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saif Al Nahyan, Chairman of Civil Aviation Department in Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Etihad Airways said the airline is meeting the needs of
its guests who prefer direct connections to Europe by offering three times weekly non-stop flights to Geneva and Munich rather than its three times per week route to
Geneva with an ongoing connection to Munich.
“We are pleased to improve this needed air connection, as our service is significantly enhancing the link the UAE has with Switzerland and Germany, two of the major
investment, conference and commercial centers of central Europe. The additional direct air connection will facilitate even more opportunities for business and tourism.”
Switzerland and the UAE enjoy a substantial trading relationship, particularly in fine jewelry, watches, machinery and precious metals.
Germany is also one of the most important trading partners of the UAE, and the most important of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the Middle East, and particularly
the Gulf region, is one of the fastest growing markets for German leisure travel.
