The Sarojin, a
new luxury five star 56-room resort and spa, located in Khao Lak,
Thailand, opened for business last month.
With 56 guest residences
- each 95-150 sqm - set in 10 acres of grounds, the resort is designed in a contemporary Asian
style, blending harmoniously with surroundings that include a magnificent two-level lotus pond,
tropical gardens, natural streams and, at the spiritual heart, an ancient giant Ficus tree. The gardens
also house a 25m infinity-edged swimming pool, complete with a large Jacuzzi and three shaded island
pavilions.
Guests
can choose from three different types of
rooms: The Sarojin Suites which have a spacious air-conditioned Thai living pavilion and private garden sun terrace featuring a dramatic black
hemispherical outdoor spa pool; the private 120 sqm Pool Residences with a private sun garden and terrace, Thai lounge sala and a 3.5 x 5.5m plunge pool and
the Garden Residences, with their private garden terraces and Thai lounge salas for outdoor dining and
relaxation.
All guest residences are equipped with a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom in a garden
setting with couples’ bath, waterfall and adjustable showers, TV and DVD, stereo CD, mini-bar, tea and
coffee making facilities, an in-residence safe and IDD telephone and broadband internet connection. A
selection of DVDs for private viewing is available.
Dining options at The Sarojin include The Edge, a beach side restaurant set in an open-air thatched
timber pavilion, serving international al fresco cuisine such as fresh catches from the Andaman Sea;
Ficus, set amongst the hanging roots and canopy of the ancient Ficus tree where a delectable menu of
international gourmet cuisine, subtly fused with flavours and twists, is served in a romantic setting and
the adjacent Cellar, an open-air long bar with cooled wine cellar that is well-stocked with
renowned international wines, available by the glass or bottle.
The Sarojin’s spa, Pathways, is located over the main estuary and central energy ‘lay line’ of the resort
in a quiet, secluded corner. Pathways has views across the estuary to a deserted coconut grove and
beyond to the Andaman Sea. It is a peaceful haven, which blends together ancient spa healing rituals
to create a natural and harmonious retreat for physical and spiritual nourishment. There is also a Fitness
Centre with treadmill, lifecycles, multi-gym and free weights, as well as yoga, tai chi,
water sports (catamarans, sea kayaks, windsurfers), mountain biking, petanque and a private croquet lawn at the
resort.
Abundant activities in the surrounding area include beach walks, golf, SCUBA and snorkelling at the
Similan and Surin Island National Marine Parks, nature walks and talks, bird and wildlife watching,
jungle safaris, elephant trekking, waterfall treks, rock climbing and hot springs. The resort
can even supply and cater elegant picnic baskets for the more adventurous guests who wish to explore.
