Asian superstar Andy Lau Tak-Wah’s very own heart-beating silicon figure is the latest experience now opened to the public in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. Using the
latest sculpturing techniques, the launch of “Andy Lau with a Beat” is the first silicon figure of its kind in Asia.
Costing HK$1 million to make, the amazing life-like figure of the superstar, not only has a beating heart but also “real” soft skin, two factors that
aim to wow his fans! The experience is based on the blockbuster hit “Internal Affairs I” with the figure wearing Andy’s “Officer Lau Kin Ming” costume from the film. Madame Tussauds
has located the figure in a duplicate office setting from the movie and has invited their customers to
complete a mission by following a series of messages on a computer screen and also from Andy’s voice.
In Andy’s recent visit to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, he was quite curious about the figure. First, he placed his hands on the figure to feel the heartbeat, then he leant
his head on to the figure’s chest, “I’ve never been so close to my heart,” he exclaimed jokingly.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong used the latest silicon sculpturing techniques to make Asia’s first ever silicon figure. The arrangement was completed five months ago by
a team in London headed by chief sculptor Steve Swales. The initial sitting lasted two hours, with the sculpting team recording details of Andy’s hair and eye color.
Several hundred photos were also taken in order for the sculptors to be able to recreate Andy as accurately as possible.
