Katathani Phuket Beach Resort signs agreement with Pelican Reservation Management System

Travel News Asia 3 March 2005

The Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, a five-star resort on Kata Noi beach on Phuket Island, Thailand, has signed an agreement with Pelican Reservation Management System to enhance its online presence be enabling guests to be able to make reservations directly from its website.

A study by the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research states that 1 out of 5 hotel reservations will be made online in 2005, while only 1 in 12 in 2003. Traveller’s online bookings have increased steadily, and are expected to continue to grow in the future.

Ms. Nantida Atiset, Assistant Managing Director of Katathani Phuket Beach Resort said, “Understanding the market and seizing the opportunity is a key business factor in success. Online reservations are now favored by most travelers; a hotel’s website can be considered as one of its effective distribution channels, and it should thus be optimized.

“By itself, the hotel’s website is considered relatively less costly since we deal without intermediaries. Pelican's well-engineered reservation system has facilitated setting room rates and allotments easily, any time it becomes necessary. The instant confirmation feature will definitely satisfy our guests – otherwise, they would have to wait in uncertainty until their reservation is confirmed”

Ms. Nantida Atiset added, “The Pelican reservation management system augments our average daily rooms rate and brings the dream of “maximum revenue” for the future one step closer.”
