Hong Kong pop stars Joey Yung and Twins are set to become among the first celebrities to be immortalized in wax at the
star-studded all new Madame Tussauds attraction scheduled to re-open at The Peak in Spring 2006.
In a private sitting arranged earlier in the year, Joey and Twins met with a team of Madame Tussauds sculptors who flew in from London to start the creative process.
During the three-hour sitting, the sculptors took detailed measurements of the celebrities, carefully colour-matching skin tones, hair and eyes to ensure a striking
resemblance. Hundreds of photos and video footage were also taken and will be used as points of reference in the London Studios.
Kelly Mak, Head of Marketing & Customer Services of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said, “As part of The Peak Tower Renovation, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is
currently undergoing a HK$20 million expansion project and will re-open in spectacular style in the Spring of 2006.”
“Over the past year, Joey and Twins have been highly ranked in several leading popularity polls and are also one of the most requested local celebrities in our survey.
Fans of Joey and Twins are sure to be very excited to meet and be photographed with the wax figures of their idols in our brand new attraction.”
Joey’s figure will reflect her style in her “Show-up! Concert” from 2003, while the Twins’ wax figures will be as they appeared in their successful Hong Kong Concert in
2004.
Joey said, “I am delighted to be a part of the global tradition of Madame Tussauds and I am especially excited to be one of the first generation of pop singers to appear in
the new-look attraction when it opens.”
Twins added, “We’re very happy that visitors to Madame Tussaud’s selected us to be featured at the new attraction. It will be great fun to ‘meet’ our wax likenesses at
The Peak!”
As part of the exciting Peak Tower Renovation, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is currently undergoing a HK$20 million expansion project, building a brand new
entrance area on level 3 of the Peak Tower and adding a further 7000 sq. ft of exhibition
space.
Edward Fuller, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, said, “The new look Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will include a larger number of new wax figures
of famous celebrities in Asia in addition to many new and exciting interactive
experiences.
“We will add more audiovisual highlights and interactive attractions into our areas, including Hong Kong Glamour, Historical & National Heroes, World Premiere, Music
Icons and The Champions.”
The attraction is now
temporarily closed for renovation and expansion and is scheduled to re-open in Spring 2006.
