Tiger
Airways today launched its new Macau - Manila (Clark) - Singapore flights
after receiving an operating permit from the Philippines Civil Aeronautics Board.
“We are delighted to receive this permit confirming that Tiger Airways can start our Manila (Clark) – Macau flights according to schedule on 30 October 2005. The
response to our seat sales has been tremendous since we started offering one-way fares from 188 MOP or 1318 Peso (S$39.98) to Macau or Clark on our website
in July 2005,” said Tiger Airways CEO, Tony Davis.
Davis
added, “Our flights from Singapore to Manila (Clark) has been a boon to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other passengers who need to travel between the
two destinations. To date we have flown more than 45,000 passengers between Manila (Clark) and Singapore. The start of our daily Manila (Clark) – Macau flights will
allow us to increase our operations at Manila (Clark) to 14 flights per
week.”
The operations of low fares carriers like Tiger Airways are expected to boost economic opportunities for Clark and support the former military base’s attempt to
transform itself into a dynamic special economic zone (SEZ) with a premier international airport.
