Bruneis Empire Hotel & Country Club has
appointed New Zealander Allen Kelly as its new golf professional.
The accomplished 40 year-old is a three-times winner of the International Masters Pro-Am at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina who has most recently been competing on
both the Malaysian and New Zealand PGA circuits.
Married with a baby daughter, the globetrotting professional began his golf-teaching career in Philadelphia, where he studied at university.
He subsequently taught in Mexico, South America, Australia and Singapore, where his most recent post was at the Executive Range in
Seletar.
In between teaching, he has also competed in South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Thailand.
At The Empire Hotel & Country Club, he is the resident professional at the award-winning Jack
Nicklaus-designed course.
The Empire Hotel & Country Club was this week the venue for the Brunei Open 2005, the first ever Asian Tour golf tournament to be staged in Brunei and on the island of
Borneo.
Before launching his career in golf, Allen was an IT specialist installing broadband networks around the Asia Pacific. He is also a qualified auto mechanic and PADI qualified dive master.
