Tiger Airways,
a low cost airline based in Singapore, has reported figures for April
2005 that show at least 1000 more passengers traveling to Singapore than traveling outbound.
“This marks a significant milestone for us as it means that our new routes from Vietnam. Macau and the Philippines are attracting lots of visitors to Singapore. What is
also interesting is that the number of inbound tickets that we have sold to date for June and July 2005 exceed outbound tickets by 20% to 50%, respectively,” said Tony
Davis, CEO Tiger Airways.
Mr Davis
added, “This is great news for Singapore’s tourism and service industries and shows that further growth in the number of Tiger Airways destinations will benefit
the whole of Singapore’s economy. Travelers across the region are booking their flights early to secure Tiger Airways’ lowest fares and we anticipate a major increase in
visitors to Singapore from across our network this summer.”
Tiger Airways growing network already covers ten cities in the region: Singapore, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hatyai, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Macau,
Padang and Manila (Clark).
