Hawaiian Airlines
is to extend its offerings from Australia with a new one-stop service from Sydney to San Diego, California.
Effective from Thursday, 2 June, Hawaiian Airlines flight HA452 from Sydney will connect
in Honolulu with flight HA16 to San Diego, the southernmost city on the US West Coast.
“San Diego is the birthplace of California, home of the famous America’s Cup yachting trophy, and a great holiday destination, combining the Californian coast and
desert,” said Scott Cammell, Hawaiian’s Sales and Marketing Manager Australia.
“The city’s attractions range from the historic Old Town to the world-famous San Diego Zoo, the maritime and aerospace museums and theme parks including
Legoland,” said Mr Cammell.
“It is also the embarkation point for a range of luxury cruise ships, and a short distance from the Mexican border and the famous city of Tijuana, a popular day trip
destination for visitors to San Diego.”
To make the San Diego flight connection, Hawaiian will bring forward its Sydney departure time by 20 minutes to 9.00pm each Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday,
arriving in Honolulu at 10.40am the same day.
After clearing US Customs, passengers can transfer to the San Diego flight, which departs Honolulu at 12.20pm and arrives at 8.35pm – a flight time of five hours and 15
minutes.
The return flight, HA 15, departs San Diego at 8.50am and arrives in Honolulu at 11.30am, in time to connect with flight HA 451, Hawaiian’s 12.30pm service to Sydney.
This flight is scheduled to arrive in Australia at 7.00pm the following day, in time for many onward domestic flights.
“Our earlier departure time from Sydney now enables passengers to connect with onward flights to all eight of our US mainland destinations – Seattle, Portland,
Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix and now San Diego,” said Mr
Cammell.
“It also enables passengers from Australia to check in to their Honolulu hotels before lunch, and to be on the beach or touring by early afternoon, or to take connecting
flights and arrive at neighbour island destinations by early afternoon.”
