Hertz is offering its customers in Australia greater peace of mind by enabling them to eliminate their excess payment liability in the event of an accident.
Customers have always had various options to reduce their excess liability if a vehicle is damaged – but no option to waive the excess.
The Max Pack, which has been introduced at more than 50 Hertz locations around Australia, enables renters to remove the full excess liability for just
A$34 per day.
“The concept of zero excess is very common and very popular overseas,” said Wayne Burgoyne, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hertz Australia.
“Many of our frequent customers in Australia who are familiar with this product, and overseas visitors who have rented from us here have expressed interest in
purchasing a zero excess cover,” said Mr Burgoyne.
“In 2004, we introduced a pilot scheme in selected Australian locations to test the demand for this product. Results were very encouraging, with a significant number of
customers selecting zero excess cover ahead of existing options which currently simply reduce the excess.”
Mr Burgoyne said the trial had been so successful that the Max Pack had now been introduced at all Hertz-owned rental outlets throughout Australia.
Some of the company’s licensee operators also have introduced the new
programme.
The zero excess option is capped at 10 days, which means that rentals longer than this period are automatically covered for a total of 30 days, at no extra cost.
This product is available only for two wheel drive passenger vehicles in the core Hertz car rental fleet, and in the Hertz Prestige Collection.
Zero excess cover is not offered for rentals of Hertz four wheel drives or commercial vehicles, and some conditions apply to
the cover. The product is available from Hertz-owned outlets throughout Australia, but not in the Northern Territory, where Hertz is operated under license.
