'No Tan Lines' promises Luxury Phuket Pool Villa Resort

Travel News Asia 28 February 2005

“No tan lines, no buffets, and no kitschy pink umbrellas in the drinks – unless of course, you want one!” This is one of many quips from Pavilions Resorts Sales & Marketing Director Karie-Ann Carpenter when describing the group’s new flagship property - Phuket Pavilions. The no tan line pledge is a tongue-in-cheek description of the all-pool villa resort’s signature privacy factor. “The sightlines are vistas of the sea and lush coconut trees, not of the other guests,” cites Carpenter. “Your own huge private pool, sundecks, and outdoor sala in total privacy - the makings of a perfect Intimate Escape”.

Phuket Pavilions is a boutique resort of 30 Modern-Asia style pool villas in Phuket’s exclusive Bang Tao Bay area, although the hotel is a destination unto itself. Stunning ocean views, a personal service concept, and spacious villas with large individual infinity pools make for strong bragging rights.

Phuket’s hottest newcomer will open in summer 2005 with 21 one bedroom pool pavilions and 9 three bedroom pool villas. The impressive one bedroom layout features a spacious living room, kitchen, luxurious bath, bedroom, outdoor sala, sundecks and a large 12 x 4m infinity edge swimming pool overlooking the Andaman Sea. The 9 three bedroom villas have panoramic views of the island, with imaginative design features such as dramatic reflecting pools at the entrance and inside the villas, and double height ceilings in the living room.

The guest’s personal experience begins with in-room check in, private dining and continues with a select in-villa spa menu. Ms Carpenter says, “The only negative side of any spa treatment is leaving that tranquil setting. Massage and body treatments in the comfort of your own enclave are the ultimate in relaxation. Creating a personal and private environment is one of the key ingredients of the Pavilions Intimate Escapes concept”.

Dynamic Hong Kong entrepreneur Gordon Oldham is the visionary behind the Pavilions Group. Four years ago in the quiet and authentic Bali village of Sanur, the bamboo fringed Bali Pavilions took shape as a resort of 23 private villas. The popularity of the pool villas in Bali set Oldham scouting for a location for the next Pavilions Resort. Long dubbed the Jewel of the Andaman for its pristine white sand beaches and turquoise waters, Phuket was a natural choice. The Pavilions team cites the beautiful natural environment, superb dining and entertainment, wide choice of leisure activities, and the sophisticated infrastructure as strong reasons for choosing Phuket as the location for its flagship property.

Phuket Pavilions owes its spectacular views to a hilltop location overlooking Bang Tao Bay. Should a guest want to venture beyond their pool villa sanctuary, the quiet and unspoiled beaches of Bang Tao, Layan and dazzling Sirinat National Park are a short four minutes away from the resort with a complimentary beach shuttle. Close proximity to the established Laguna complex of shopping and dining, as well as three world class golf courses nearby are all elements that have made this area of Phuket so popular over the years.

Phuket Pavilions is poised to make an impact to the island’s luxury villa accommodation market. One can expect the group to be quick to capitalize on the innuendo of the ‘no tan lines’ factor. “Our guests may never want to leave their villa,” say Carpenter with a mischievous grin. “That is the underlying inspiration of the Intimate Escape”.
