A Six Senses Spa
is to be included in the final stage of a US$20 million restoration programme at Penha Longa Hotel & Golf Resort. The resort, set within a 545 acre
national park, offers magnificent seclusion in the southern Sintra Hills of Portugal.
The final stage of the renovation process will see the unveiling of the lavishly appointed 1,500 sqm Six Senses Spa, set to open in June 2005. It is located within the
historic palace buildings, amid a stunning, landscaped garden setting which affords total privacy and seclusion. Just a few minutes walk from the main hotel building,
the Six Senses Spa incorporates a number of water features designed to lend a meditative and contemplative ambience.
With no noise pollution to disrupt this idyllic Portuguese oasis, the spa contains two dry treatment rooms, two wet treatment rooms, two Thai Massage salas, one
couples suite, one facial suite and three relaxation areas.
Within the garden, there is a Jacuzzi, plunge pool and wading pool, a three meter waterfall, a platform over the pool for T’ai Chi or Yoga plus a water cascade feature and
two gazebos for medication or treatments.
Six Senses Spas’ wide-ranging menu of signature treatments will focus on health, beauty, pampering, stress reduction and revitalization, using pure, natural and
environmentally friendly products. Treatments are administered by skilled international therapists and practitioners who blend eastern and western techniques.
Penha Longa Hotel & Golf Resort, which encompasses a luxurious hotel, a 19th century palace originally founded as a monastery in the 14th century and two
spectacular golf courses, was formerly the summer retreat of the Portuguese royal family. It enjoys an enviable location set within a 545 acre National Park, close to the
World Heritage site of Sintra, the bustling seaside towns of Cascais and Estoril, the beaches of Guincho, and just a 30-minute drive from Lisbon.
