Amadeus
yesterday concluded a three-day Regional
Airline Conference “Anticipating the Future” & Technology Exchange Exhibition at the Conrad Hotel, Bangkok for over 100 senior airline executives from 35 Asia Pacific
airlines.
The conference programme, comprising plenary sessions, interactive workshops and an exhibition addresses how the region’s leading airlines are tackling some of the
aviation industry’s biggest issues by successfully integrating business and IT strategy, managing costs, increasing revenue, and improving customer loyalty. In
conjunction with the conference, delegates were invited to attend a Technology Exchange Exhibition displaying the latest Amadeus travel technologies, where the
company “let the technology speak for itself” alongside offerings from a host of other key industry service providers.
Industry leaders and senior Amadeus management addressed the conference on some of the key strategic issues in today’s fast changing airline industry. Professor
Rigas Doganis, senior advisor to airlines, airports and government and international agencies, former Chairman/ CEO of Olympic Airways and noted aviation author,
delivered the Keynote Address entitled “Challenges and Prospects: Defining the successful airline of the future”. The other speakers included leading executives from
the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Thai Airways, British Airways, Qantas, Bangkok Airways, Philippine Airlines, Asiana Airlines, TransAsia Airways and Cathay Pacific.
In his welcome address Amadeus Asia Pacific President, David Brett said, “We are here to address key issues that confront the region’s airlines in today’s changing
environment, and focus on how airlines of all types are successfully leveraging technology to play a decisive role in achieving their objectives.”
David highlighted
Amadeus’ commitment to the industry and the company’s unique level of investment and success in Asia Pacific, before closing by asking the region’s airlines to ‘decide
for themselves’.
Feedback from the first day of the conference was extremely positive, with an overwhelming 94% of respondents confirming that conferences such as Amadeus’
“Anticipating the Future” are great opportunities to learn new information and network with industry colleagues. Thirty-five Asia Pacific airlines sent over 100 senior
delegates to the conference including representatives from Air India, Air Macau, Air Mandalay, Air Paradise, Air Sahara, Air Tahiti, Air Vanuatu, All Nippon Airways, Asiana
