American Airlines Cargo Division
is to open its new airside export facility at London's Heathrow Airport,
8 August 2005. The new export facility will operate in addition to American's current facility at Heathrow Estate, which will continue to handle American's import operations into Heathrow.
The move to separate operations
should allow American to handle with greater efficiency increased cargo volumes in and out of Heathrow. It will also allow AA's
warehouse teams to specialize in the specific requirements involved in handling imports and exports worldwide.
"This move reflects our commitment to providing convenience and superior service for our UK customers," said Dave Brooks - President of AA Cargo. "Many of our key
customers and interline partners will benefit from easier access to our new Shoreham Road location."
Operations at American's new Heathrow Export Facility will begin at 0700 on Monday,
8 August at Building 552, Shoreham Road East, London's Heathrow Airport.
AA's import operations will continue at Units 2 - 5, Heathrow Estate, Silver Jubilee Way, Hounslow, Middlesex.
